About this cause:

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes non-malignant tumors to form in many different organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. TSC is also the leading known genetic cause of both epilepsy and autism. Approximately 85 % of individuals with TSC will experience a seizure at some point in their lifetime and approximately 70 % of those have intractable epilepsy. Approximately 50% of individuals with TSC will also be diagnosed with autism and 80% with kidney involvement. Children and adults with TSC live each day under unimaginable circumstances, yet they and their caregivers carry on because current TSC- related research proves there's a real possibility their fight is winnable in the near future. Currently, there is no cure.
