About this cause:

Raynaud's is a disorder of the small blood vessels that reduces blood flow to the extremities — think fingers and toes. Exposure to cold (winter air, summer air conditioning, frozen peas in the grocery store, iced coffees...) can send the blood vessels into spasms, causing numbness, throbbing, tingling and a sequence of color changes, followed by (for some) a painful de-thaw process. There are two types of Raynaud's, primary and secondary. There is no cure. Lifestyle changes are the main treatment, though off-label of use of certain medications might be prescribed in certain cases. Common triggers of Raynaud's episodes have been identified, but the underlying cause(s) of Raynaud's itself remains unknown. Learn more: http://www.raynauds.org/
