Rowena, one of our department’s amazing Physical Therapists, suffers from lupus. When she was expecting her daughter, Rowena had complications and was on bed rest. She had her daughter prematurely and six months later, she was diagnosed with Lupus (SLE) and was given only 10-15 years. Rowena beat that expectation and fired through it. She continued to work full time, be an amazing mother, wife and therapist. Throughout the years she was in and out of the hospital with flare ups. Rowena continued to receive three different major treatments for her lupus nephritis. Two years ago she went into remission, but this past year is when her kidney failure advanced to the level of needing dialysis. She recently began peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) training and hopes to completely start that soon. We would love and appreciate your support in Rowena’s fight against this horrible disease.
