I have created this page for my sister, Leigh Cooper Wallace, who passed away very suddenly from MRSA-induced pneumonia on December 17, 2012, at the young age of 43. Her shocking death shattered the lives of her husband, son, daughter, and the rest of our family, and the small community of Boone, NC that she was such a big part of. Nearly 3,000 people waited hours to pay respects at both her visitation and again the next day at her memorial service. Perhaps even more shocking is the fact that the hospital never even tested her for MRSA, and sent her home with oral antibiotics instead of admitting her. She died just over 48 hours later. Maybe this means there needs to be more awareness of this brutal infection.
