About this cause:
One to three homeless individuals die on the streets and along the rivers in Sacramento CA each week. Many die of terminally illnesses (cancer, heart disease, AIDS, etc.) without access to hospice care because they do not have permanent shelter. Joshua’s House will be a hospice house for terminally ill men and women who are experiencing homelessness at the end of life in our community. Joshua’s House will provide private bedrooms for 12-15 terminally ill residents with access to semi-private bathrooms, a multi-purpose room for activities and services, a small meditation/chapel space, a large kitchen and laundry facility and lots of storage space. This will be the first such facility on the West Coast and the sixth such facility in the United States. We are creating it as a model for other cities to replicate. No one should die alone on the street!
