About this cause:Freedom House, a New Jersey based non-profit statewide organization with facilities in Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris and Warren counties, is a national leader and an international model for the long term treatment of adult men and women with alcohol and drug addiction. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Freedom House was the first halfway house in New Jersey to achieve national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and in 2005 became the first halfway house in New Jersey to be accredited as a Drug Court Treatment Facility. Forty-five percent of those admitted graduate from Freedom House. The Freedom House model, a highly disciplined, highly structured program, has been replicated in Denmark, Sweden, Romania, and South Africa.
In 2000, The Family Afterward program was founded. This program teaches women who have completed treatment for their addiction to pursue economic independence through career guidance, assistance in securing employment, and financial budgeting. Life skills training, parenting skills and guidance in negotiating the child custody system are also provided. All of this while reuniting these women with their children.
In 2014 an outpatient services program was opened providing regular as well as intensive outpatient services, individual counseling, group counseling, evaluations and assessments, case management and parallel care. Our program is unique in the sense that we offer night and weekend hours as well as centralized transportation.
