About this cause:

The Johns Hopkins Department of Neurosurgery is one of the largest clinical departments in the world—performing more that 4,000 operations a year. Our challenge is to develop personalized therapies targeted specifically for the patient’s tumor type with the goal of eradicating tumors. We have made great progress in our labs thus far – we have cured cancer in mice and have started a number of clinical trials. Our scientists are currently working on the following brain tumor research: - novel medication delivery systems, such as ones using microchips and nanotechnology - personalized brain tumor vaccines - modification of brain cells such that they seek out and destroy tumor cells - intact removal of chordomas - creation of less invasive surgical procedures Further funding will bring new therapies, new drug delivery methods, and new surgical techniques to the patient. We envision a time when aggressive tumors will no longer be a death sentence. We ask that you please consider supporting brain cancer research at Johns Hopkins, which will enable us to rapidly advance the science, bring new solutions in clinical practice, and also train the next generation of neurosurgeons.
