About this cause:

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 38. I live in a small town and was told the Neurologist couldn't do anything for me and recommended I go to Duke or Emory for a second opinion. My parents still lived in Metro-Atlanta, so I went to Emory. I was admitted for surgery at the consultation appointment with the Neurologist at their Winship Cancer Institute. The following morning, I was rolled into the O.R. and had a tumor removed from the right frontal lobe of my brain that was the size of an orange. I was blessed and fortunate to find an amazing medical group able to remove the cancer from my brain and I'm trying to keep myself afloat, while I've been unable to work or drive since surgery, 4.5 years ago now. This isn't just about a fundraiser for my expenses but the hope that it will spread the word about brain cancer patients. I have known of 3 other friends and acquaintances that passed away from brain tumors after my recovery. If I can sell some Bracelets that make people ask the wearers " What does that stand for?", I will be able to inform others that this deadly disease is affecting more people than we realize.
