About this cause:Hi everyone. As some of you may know, I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 11 years old. Because we aren’t already awkward enough at that age, I was braced having to wear my brace 16 hours a day for over 2 years in an effort to avoid surgery. The hard plastic brace extended from up under my arms and below my hips with big Velcro straps in the back. It left painful rashes on my sides and constantly pinched my skin. Sleeping at night was quite the challenge and I would wake up drenched in sweat every morning. Unfortunately, since then, my scoliosis has continued to worsen significantly.
Although scoliosis is quite common, its something that people have to deal with for the rest of their lives. What amazes me, is that many years later, patients still only have two options: bracing or surgery. I am trying to raise money for the Scoliosis Research Society, which provides medical education for HCPs and supports research for spinal deformities.
Please help me out and support a great cause that affects so many by purchasing a Bravelet bracelet. 10% of each purchase will go directly to the Scoliosis Research Society!
The Scoliosis Research Society is a non-profit, professional organization, made up of physicians and allied health personnel. Their primary focus is on providing continuing medical education for health care professionals and on funding/supporting research in spinal deformities. Founded in 1966, the SRS has gained recognition as one of the world's premier spine societies.
