About this cause:

Hi Y'all!

My name is Amber Hayden (Coe) and this fundraiser is to help cover the overwhelming amount of medical bills and to help pay for some of the tests and medications I need, that aren't covered. I met my husband, David Hayden, during our first week of college at Kettering University. Ever since we met, David has been by my side, supporting me through every single obstacle that's come my way.

My health struggles began shortly after birth, when I was diagnosed with severe infantile idiopathic scoliosis. I went into a body brace when I was 4 months old and had to wear 23 hours a day. Throughout the years the medical problems have snowballed. Spinal fusion, superior mesenteric artery syndrome, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, 4 traumatic brain injuries, rectal prolapse, uterine prolapse, bladder prolapse, infections, feeding tubes, PICC lines, TPN...the list could go on and on.

A very good friend and Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority sister created a GoFundMe campaign ( to help with my medical expenses. The following is something she posted on the GoFundMe campaign page...

"I think she should be certified as a medical consultant for weird cases with all of the things she knows now!.. or at least have a guest appearance on House. We also all know what a great attitude she has through all of it, continuing to make jokes and really care about others.

However, things have been pretty rough the past few months (well really years) and I think we should step-up as her friends and family. Between the many trips to the hospital, covering what the bureaucratic insurance companies take forever to cover, and every little thing that comes up, finances are a struggle right now for David and Amber. I know that Amber would never ask for this, but I think some financial help would really take a lot off of her and David's plate, allowing them to make some payments on the medical bills so they do not go to collections. And the less she has to worry about that, the sooner that she can get better and go mudding, eat delicious food, and do whatever blows her skirt up (darlin')."

Even though the GoFundMe campaign is doing well, I really identify with the phrase Be Brave. I know there are millions of people around the world who are struggling through conditions WAY worse than anything I've ever experienced. However, Be Brave is one of the best affirmations I've ever encountered. It is incredibly powerful.

So the mission of this fundraising campaign is twofold. First, to raise money to help cover the extensive medical bills. Second, for people (myself included) to wear a beautifully simple reminder to Be Brave. You never he know who needs that positive reminder to stay strong and keep being brave!

Thank you for your love and support, and remember that you're not alone, you can do this, and you need to Be Brave!
