My first born son, Thomas Anthony Stanley, died by suicide on July 15, 2015. His death was a complete shock to me, as I had no true knowledge of depression or any type of mental health issue at the time. He was a brilliant caring young man who had everything going for him. Since his death, it has been difficult within the state of Indiana to find adequate counseling for our needs. I have three younger teenage sons who have experienced this loss right alone with me. My goal is to create a legacy in honor of my son whose life ended too soon and provide hope to others who are in need of mental health services. Funds will be utilized to provide resources and training for suicide prevention within our small Indiana town. I have worn my suicide prevention bravelets since his death and wear them with honor and pride and as a source of hope for the future, so that others may never experience the loss of a child to suicide.
