The day that changed my life forever

July 8, 2016 I was out with my parents and sister for a night of fun and bonding. When things took a turn for the worse. I was 30 years old, we was just seated at a restaurant in Bar Harbor Maine or dinner. We had just got our drinks and toasted to a great night with family when my sister noticed I was slurring my words then my mom notice I had left facial droop. 9-1-1 was called immediately I had no idea anything was going on. the ambulance was there within 5mins and i was at the hospital in 10mins. I was rushed in for a CT once I arrived at the hospital and once we were waiting for the results I realized what was happening when I was unable to move my left arm or leg. Now I got scared of what was going to happen. The Doctor on duty contacted a hospital in Portland Maine and they advised for me to have a clot busting med called TPA with an hour I was starting to feel my left side again. Due to it being a foggy summer night they were unable to life-flight me to Portland Maine. so I was taken by ambulance and after a 4 hour ride in the back we finally arrived. They admitted me and got my settled into my room. I wasn't feeling well. they brought me down for an MRI to get the full picture of what was going on. In that time I now was able to squeeze my left hand and it made me cry cause I then knew I was going to be ok. I spent a week in the amazing Maine Med Hospital in Portland Maine. I was then discharged wtih out patient therapy. Which I kicked butt at my therapy and only needed it for 3 weeks and here I am 6 months later alive and able to tell my story.
