Daniel Neer's Story

Please join the Neer Strong "Light The Night" team in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by purchasing a Bravelet.

In 2014, Daniel, who at the time had just turned 21, was getting ready to begin his senior year at University of Georgia when he began having flu-like symptoms and just did not feel well.  He was running fevers, had bad headaches and he was not able to keep any food down.  He went to several doctors, but it was his gastro Dr. that prescribed additional tests and a complete blood work-up.  His blood work revealed an extremely high white blood count as well as other suspicious levels.  We were ordered to immediately go to a hemotologist, which the Dr. was in the process of talking to. Later that day, he was diagnosed with adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Daniel is on the young side for this disease. Daniel spent the next 20 days in the hospital.  He completed three addition rounds of Chemo and he was declared in Complete Remission on January 22, 2015.  Unfortunately, it was short-lived and he relapsed on 3/31/2015. He is getting prepared to have a stem cell transplant. His transplant is scheduled for June 26, 2015.   Please keep Daniel in your prayers.
