Living with Neuropathy
I have recently been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. It used to only affect me at night, the tingling, burning sensation in the bottoms of my feet, all night long. So many nights in tears as I tried my best to ignore it and be able to fall asleep. I dread bedtime as I never know just how bad it will be from night to night. There are days now that it is starting to show up in the day and at least for now, it's only happening when I go to sit down. In fact, as I'm sitting here writing all this, they burn.... Sadly this means I will be going in to have medications upped yet again. That has been frustrating as well, as of right now, I take 8 different meds just to be able to sleep. I've joined a few groups where there are others like me that are suffering the same way. Some are even worse. It saddens me that there are roughly 4.5 million people in the world that have no idea what the initial cause is for their neuropathy. I'm doing my best not to let this get the best of me. I make myself go to the gym, eat healthy, take care of my kids and do my best to ignore the pain as best as I can. I titled the beating neuropathy with Yosemite because my husband signed us up to run a half marathon there this October. In my mind, it's a way for me to conquer what is going on with my feet, to show my body that it can throw whatever it wants at me, that I'm going to still beat it. I know it won't go away, but I'm not going to let it stop me from still living and enjoying life.
