My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on March 9, 2007. She was 4 1/2 years old at the time. She was too young to really understand why I had to check her sugar 6-10 times a day and why she had to get multiple shots in a day. Karlie is now 12 and about the bravest, most awesome kid I know. Karlie has become an Ambassador for the American Diabetes Association and she and I have done the ADA Walk to raise money for a cure for the past 3 years. Each year we have raised over $1000 for the ADA. Karlie lives her life with passion and does not let diabetes stop her from doing anything. We have been looking into getting a Diabetic Assistance Dog (DAD) for some time now. They are quite expensive but we hope to raise the money for a DAD to make Karlie's life with diabetes a bit more livable. Getting a DAD would mean the world to her. Thank you for your support.
