Dina's Brave Story
Posted on September 28 2017
My friends and family know me as “Dina”, but I’d like to tell you something about my life that I don’t share with many people. When I was six weeks old I was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 1, or “NF”. This condition causes small tumors called “fibromas” to occasionally grow in or on my body.
Because of this, I’ve had many surgeries and other medical procedures since I was five years old. Those procedures are scary sometimes, but I’ve gotten through them with the support of my friends and family. In May of 2013, I graduated from high school, and this was a big accomplishment for me because NF sometimes causes difficulties in learning environments.
Now that I’ve completed high school and learning more about Neurofibromatosis, I want to do something to help others who have this condition. That’s why I’m raising funds – to help others and to help Children’s Tumor Foundation in their effort to find a cure.
I’m trying to raise $800, and I’m off to a good start because of family. Now I’m asking my friends to help me reach my goal. I am so excited to have my bravelets fundraiser page made I hope I can make a difference.
