Who is the bravest person you know? When my grandmother was battling brain cancer, Mom went to her mother's side to sit with her for weeks. When my oldest sister was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer, Mom stayed with her when my brother-in-law worked out of town. Even though my sister could barely eat anything, Mom got her whatever she thought sounded good to eat. When she died, Mom stayed strong. When my dad was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm and massive lung cancer, we brought him home with hospice. She was with him all the time except when I or one of his friends relieved her. When he died, she held one hand as I held the other. And she still stands strong. She has taught me to be brave, to be bold, and that no matter what I can go on!
